TriCipher Press Releases
CRIX International and TriCipher Secure eClinical Platform for Information Sharing in Life Sciences
User Credentialing, Authentication and Digital Signature Management
Streamlines Processes and Eases Platform Adoption
Reston, VA and Los Gatos, CA – October 30, 2007 – Clinical Research Information eXchange (CRIX) International, the not-for-profit organization dedicated to information sharing in clinical research, and TriCipher, the leading provider of strong authentication solutions that protect online users against digital fraud and identity theft, today announced they have collaborated to provide an end-to-end authentication infrastructure for the CRIX technology platform.
The industry-endorsed platform is designed to break down silos in clinical research and create an infrastructure for better collaboration in life sciences to bring safer, more effective drugs to market faster and more efficiently. As part of the agreement, user identification for the platform will be authenticated through the TriCipher solution to ensure security and ease industry adoption.
“The highly competitive life sciences industry needs to know that the identity of each platform user has been authenticated, and therefore the data shared on the CRIX platform is secure,” said Jim Bland, president of CRIX International. “Success of the platform is predicated on broad adoption and TriCipher provides the peace of mind that makes it possible.”
“There are two critical, process issues associated with identity authentication: electronic signatures and management of authorization levels,” said John De Santis, TriCipher CEO and President. “Our solutions have a demonstrated success within life sciences and we look forward to providing CRIX International with the best solution the industry has to offer.”
As the life sciences industry adopts new technology for their communication and coordination needs, advanced methods to authenticate users and endorsing documents must follow. While many companies rely on technology for some parts of their clinical research process, relying on an antiquated paper-based process for signing documents is inefficient.
CRIX International will leverage TriCipher’s solutions to support a variety of functions, including the online credentialing process, digital identity assurance and electronic signatures for members of the CRIX community. The authentication infrastructure provided by TriCipher will ensure that CRIX users are who they say they are and that information digitally signed or communicated by that user is held to the same standards as a traditional signature or communication.
CRIX International also will incorporate SAFE-BioPharma Association’s, SAFE standard for identity management and digital signatures into their platform’s security measures. The SAFE-compliant digital identity assures that user identity has been carefully reviewed and verified.
By combining TriCipher technology with the SAFE standard, CRIX will utilize a seamless authentication solution though hardware, software and signature security measures. As a result, all aspects of the document management process can be completed electronically, increasing efficiency and lowering costs within the medical community by eliminating steps of the process only associated with printed documents.
Built to satisfy the varying needs of all parties involved in clinical research, TriCipher’s end-to-end authentication infrastructure will provide adjustable degrees of access to the CRIX platform. The solution also allows for the flexibility to adjust among safety variables and protect the platform from a wide variety of potential security threats.
The CRIX suite of services provides a central point of contact through an electronic platform for all parties involved in clinical research, including research institutions, academia, and healthcare providers and patients.
